Transform your relationship

It can be challenging, even overwhelming to be in an intimate relationship or marriage. You may be experiencing that now. I have over 20 years of experience helping partners to understand each other, themselves and to improve how they communicate together. I'd be happy to see how I can help.

I see clients in person in Midtown West, Manhattan, near Penn Station or virtually on Zoom.

Figuring it out

Couples counseling with Jonathan Sibley offers a chance to understand where you are as a couple and to explore what to do next

Personalized Approach

Every couple is different. Together, we'll explore what will be most helpful for you. We may focus on communication, attachment styles, beliefs about relationships, intimacy, whatever will be most helpful.

Understanding what's really going on

The reasons couples keep fighting (or remain distant) are often unclear, or not what they seem to be. Partners think they are fighting about something, but there is often something deeper, with higher stakes, beneath the surface. And, sometimes, fights can take on a life of their own, where partners end up fighting about the way they are fighting. Do you recognize any of this in your relationship?

Explore the best fit for where you are in your relationship

Sometimes, both partners are committed to working on the relationship and realize they need additional help. Sometimes, one or both partners aren't sure whether it is worth committing to therapy to help the relationship or whether it is time to move toward separation. Different ways of working together can address each of these common scenarios.

Ongoing couples counseling

In-person or virtually, helping each partner to understand the dynamics of what happens when there is conflict, and how to deal with conflict together more effectively.

Individual therapy

Sometimes, a partner isn't ready or willing to start couples counseling. And sometimes, it's not just about a relationship, or about a relationship at all.

Discernment Counseling

Designed for relationships where one partner has a "foot out the door", a specialized approach to deciding whether to separate or to commit to ongoing counseling.
